Chocolate Tour
2022 Event Details

AUGUST 6, 2022

The 2022 Chocolate Tour is a bike, run or walk event to support cancer research; so there is something for the entire family!  It is being held at a central location between the four chocolate towns in central PA.  The central host town is Manheim (about 30-minutes from Hershey).  It is a very friendly and happy place, which is ideally located among the Amish farms, covered-bridges, forests, rivers, lakes and other features making this such a beautiful area in which to bicycle, run or walk.

The cycling routes this year have a central location (Manheim) and a bike route heading in the direction of or including a particular chocolate town, with a rest stop in the middle, which will feature chocolate from that town (draft map is shown with all routes including the 10-mile route-red).  Participants can ride from 10 to 100 miles by selecting particular combinations of routes. The 30 mile Myerstown Town Route (Home of Smith's Candies) is the flattest route and includes 2 covered bridges, one of which is the longest in the world (pink route on map).  A 20-mile Hershey Town Route (Home of the Hershey Chocolate Factory) is an advanced fairly hilly route passing through forests and past a lake.  No covered bridges are on this route (blue route on map).  Next is a 25-mile Lititz Town Route (Home of the Wilbur Chocolate Factory).  This route includes many pretty features and passes through Amish farm country with two covered bridges.  One bridge is the prettiest in the area (yellow route on map).  The ride also passes through side-streets in Lititz (one of the prettiest towns in the area).  The final route is the Elizabethtown Route (Home of the M&M Mars Chocolate Factory).  This route is half flat and half low rolling hills through areas with a lot of rivers, Amish farms and two covered bridges (green route on map).

The fun walk and run events for the 2022 Chocolate Tour will occur on a quarter mile loop around the Manheim Farm Show complex buildings.  The key is to have fun while supporting cancer research!  Aside from inspirational music there will be games, raffles and prizes that will occur or be handed-out during the event.  Local vendors or event supporters will line the course and offer samples of chocolate and other goods.  The event will be MC'd by the popular Cheryl Gamber.

All events will be followed by a meal

Cycling Photos:
Chocolate Tour committee member Steve Holland will have a team of photographers strategically stationed along the cycling routes to capture photos of our riders and the beautiful central Pennsylvania scenery and covered bridges.  These photos will be available for sale on his website, www.zenfolio.com/imaginations. Available items will include digital downloads and prints in popular sizes, all at very reasonable prices.  And best of all, proceeds benefit the Conner M Holland Foundation (cmhollandfoundation.org), which provides financial support to families of children with pediatric cancer, and runs the Conner’s Comfies ™ program that distributes new pajamas to sick children at the Hershey Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).
